cinemabasilicata.it is a web project and informational portal designed, developed, and managed by Roberto Lacava, created to support and promote cinema culture in the Lucanian region. The site serves as a centralized, real-time reference point for all moviegoers in Basilicata, collecting and organizing the weekly schedules of all active movie theaters in the territory.

A Unified Hub for Lucanian Cinema
Before the portal's creation, checking screening times and schedules in Basilicata required navigating fragmented websites or social media pages for each theater, which were often outdated or difficult to read on mobile devices.
cinemabasilicata.it solves this problem by aggregating information in a single clean, fast, and responsive interface for theaters in:
- Potenza (Cineteatro Don Bosco, Nuovo Teatro Stabile, etc.)
- Matera (Cinema Comunale Gerardo Guerrieri, Piccolo Teatro Celsia, etc.)
- Melfi (Multisala Ruggiero)
- Policoro (Multisala Hollywood)
- Pisticci and Rionero in Vulture
By accessing the portal, users can instantly check what films are screening today or in the coming days, compare showtimes, and find contact info, making a night out at the movies simple to plan.

Promoting Regional Events and Film Festivals
Basilicata boasts a vibrant independent film community and hosts internationally recognized festivals. The portal dedicates ample editorial coverage to promoting these events, amplifying:
- The Lucania Film Festival in Pisticci, the first international independent film festival in Basilicata.
- The Marateale (Film Festival in the Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea), which brings major national and international figures in cinema to Maratea every summer.
- Art-house film screenings, cineclubs, and special screenings organized by local cultural organizations.

Visual Identity: Basilicata as a Film Set
The cover graphic for this project (visible at the top of this page) is an original illustration curated to visually express the portal's tagline: "Basilicata as a film set".
The poster blends the most celebrated historical and natural landmarks of Basilicata with icons of cinema:
- On the left, the stone profiles and narrow alleys of the Sassi di Matera and historic Lucanian towns, wrapped in a film reel that flows like a road.
- On the right, the majestic statue of Christ the Redeemer in Maratea overlooking the Gulf of Policastro, flanked by studio spotlights and vintage movie cameras.
- In the center, a clapboard ("Take 1") with the stylized Vulture volcano in the background, symbolizing the raw energy and diverse landscapes of a land that has served as the backdrop for timeless masterpieces (from Pasolini's The Gospel According to St. Matthew to Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, and James Bond's No Time to Die).
