Basilicata is a land capable of revealing alpine landscapes and mountain scenery of unexpected beauty. This short video film captures an extraordinary moment of winter quiet at the "Piana del Lago" (Lake Plain), located in the Lucanian Apennines.
The Silence of the Snowbound Forest
Shot in the aftermath of a heavy snowfall, the video offers an intimate and contemplative look at the sleeping forest. The soft white blanket entirely covers the undergrowth, the tree branches, and the frozen surface of the small high-altitude lake, creating a suspended and almost fairytale atmosphere.
The absolute silence following the storm heightens the solemn peace of the landscape, interrupted only by the play of sunlight filtering through snow-laden branches.
Reflections and Visual Contrasts
The partially frozen surface of the lake transforms into a crystalline mirror, reflecting surrounding peaks and bare trees with striking clarity. The sharp color contrast between pristine snow, dark beech bark, and the deep blue Lucanian sky helps create visual compositions of great painterly impact.

Guiding the viewer's experience is an intimate soundtrack performed by me on acoustic guitar. The arpeggiated notes blend harmoniously with slow shots, amplifying the perception of peace and inviting deep contemplation of the winter landscape.
